About me
Hi, I’m Dr Tina Vaughan, a Clinical Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (Registration No. PYL23953) and I have over 20 years experience working in psychology services in the NHS and private practice.
I believe we all have the capacity to change and grow, but sometimes life, habits, self-doubt, stress or simply not knowing where to start can get in the way.
It might be that you need some help working out where you want to go, and what’s been stopping you getting there, whether that’s about your health, work, relationships or anything else.
Rather than telling you what you should do, I’ll help you understand why you’re doing what you’re doing, and explore with you what you would like to do differently.
More than a conversation
You could spend your session time talking about problems and what's getting in the way. But my aim isn't simply to talk. It's to understand, change and grow.
As a Clinical Psychologist, I'll bring specialist knowledge of motivation, behaviour change, emotional wellbeing, stress and fatigue to our work together.
We'll explore what's happening, but we'll also focus on:
What do you want to be different?
What really matters to you?
What's getting in the way?
What would moving forward actually look like?
The goal isn't for you to become dependent on sessions. It's to help you develop the understanding and psychological skills to make meaningful changes for yourself.
Sometimes that takes just a few sessions. Sometimes it takes longer.
Either way, we'll keep the focus on your goals, your progress and what you want to get from the work.
My Approach
I have particular interests and expertise in motivation, behaviour change and personal growth. This is in addition to my extensive experience working with people who have experienced complex mental health difficulties and neurological conditions.
As part of my Doctorate in Clinical and Community Psychology, I received formal training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy as well as Systemic, Psychodynamic and Community Psychology approaches. I enjoy drawing on Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Compassion Focused Therapy alongside other evidence based approaches.
We’ll work together to find approaches that are realistic, meaningful and sustainable for you.
